🌀 STORM UPDATE | PREPARE NOW

Confidence is increasing that Hall County will experience bands of heavy rainfall through Sunday morning as Hurricane Isaias moves through the region.

While the threat of tornadoes will initially be greater south of Hall County early Saturday, that threat is expected to increase in our area throughout the day Saturday and into Sunday.

What should Hall County residents prepare for?
🌧️ Heavy Rainfall & Flooding: Periods of heavy rain could lead to localized flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
🌳 Downed Trees & Power Outages: Strong winds combined with saturated ground could bring down multiple trees and power lines, potentially causing power outages.
🌪️ Tornado Threat: Stay weather-aware throughout the weekend and be prepared to seek shelter if a warning is issued.

Take time now to prepare:
✅ Charge cell phones, medical devices and other essential electronic equipment. Make sure backup batteries or power sources are available for medical equipment that requires electricity.
✅ Have flashlights, batteries and a NOAA Weather Radio available.
✅ Check medications, prescriptions, drinking water, food and pet supplies.
✅ Secure outdoor furniture and other loose items.
✅ Know where to shelter if a tornado warning is issued.

Remember: Never drive through flooded roads, stay away from downed power lines and never operate generators indoors or in garages.

Hall County Emergency Management is actively monitoring the storm and will provide regular updates on this page as conditions develop.

HALL COUNTY ELECTIONS INFORMS VOTERS OF NEW CHECK-IN STEP

Hall County Elections is informing voters of a new step they may notice when checking in to vote during the upcoming election.

Under a recent amendment to Georgia State Election Board Rule 183-1-12-.11(2)(a), poll workers are now required to record each voter’s name on a numbered list of voters as part of the check-in process.

For voters, the process will look much the same as it has in previous elections. After a poll worker verifies a voter’s identity and registration information, the poll worker will write the voter’s name in ink on the numbered list before continuing the check-in process.

“This is an additional step for our poll workers, not for the voter,” said Lori Wurtz, Hall County elections director. “Voters may notice a poll worker writing their name on the numbered list during check-in. We want voters to understand that this is part of the process required under Georgia State Election Board rules and there is nothing additional they need to do.”

The additional step is expected to add only a few seconds to the check-in process.

Hall County Elections is sharing the information in advance, so voters know what to expect when they arrive to vote during advance voting or on Election Day.

For additional election information, including voting locations, dates and hours, visit Hall County’s Elections website.

What should Hall County preserve as we grow? What needs to change?

Growth affects more than where new homes and businesses are built. It affects the roads we travel, housing, infrastructure, parks and greenspace, jobs, natural resources, County services and the character of our communities. Hall County’s Comprehensive Plan looks at those issues and helps guide long-range planning for the years ahead.

Now is your opportunity to be part of that conversation.

Join us for the second Shape Hall County Public Meeting to learn more about the Comprehensive Plan update, ask questions and share your perspective.
