Fall can be a good time to grow vegetables, but don’t forget to water. Although your plants may not need as much water as they did in the heat of summer, they will still need adequate water to mature properly. Since fall in our area is sometimes dry, you will need to remember to check your garden often and water when needed. Join MU Extension Field Specialist Todd Higgins to learn to make your own water collection barrel.

Since 2023, Todd Higgins has been the MU Extension field horticulturist for Clay, Clinton, Buchanan, Platte, Caldwell, and Daviess counties. He previously taught as an associate professor at Lincoln University of Missouri and served as an adjunct faculty member at multiple institutions, including the University of Leicester. A 24-year military veteran (U.S. Army and Missouri National Guard), his service includes commanding the 110th Engineer Battalion and serving as command engineer in Afghanistan. He holds a Ph.D. in agronomy from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and is a 45-year member of the American Society of Agronomy.
