Calling all local photographers! 📸🌳

The Sumner County Urban Forestry Project is hosting a Photography Contest, and we’d love to see your work showcased right here in our community!

Key Details
:📷 Theme: Photos featuring a tree (or trees) taken in 2025
👤 Eligibility: Ages 18 & up
📐 Format: JPEG or PNG (8x10 or 2400x3000 pixels)
🗓️ Submission Deadline: December 4th, 2026
🏆 Prizes & Display: Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place! Plus, the 1st through 5th place winning photos will be displayed at the Gallatin Public Library, Hendersonville Public Library, and the Sumner County Extension Office.

There will be no Shake, Rattle, and Grow on Tuesday, October 13th so that our children’s staff can spend the day at the Tennessee State Library & Archives planning all the excitement and fun of next year’s Summer Reading Program! We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing all our SR&G kiddos again on October 20th!

🎃 October’s set to be a great month at GPL combining new library excitement with classic Halloween events! 🍂👻✨

🐾 Meet the newest (four-legged) member of our team—Stormy the Listening Dog—on Saturday, October 10th! 🐶💛 We also have not one, but TWO new teen events this month! 🎨📚 Make your own zine at Teen Crafts on October 20th ✂️🖍️ and join us for the first meeting of teen book club “Club Classics” at 4 pm on October 27th as we delve into Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein!

🕸️ Returning spooky season faves include Halloween Harvest at the Gallatin Farmers Market on Saturday, October 24th 🌽🍁 and Trick-or-Treat on the Square from 10 am to 2 pm on October 30th! 🍬🎃🧡

🐈‍⬛ While you’re here, don’t forget to vote for your favorite spooky cat in this year’s Staff Halloween Craft Contest—may the fanciest feline win! 🐱🧙‍♀️🏆✨

What a wonderful day on Main Street! 🍂💛

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to Main Street Fest 2026 and stopped by GPL last Saturday! We were so grateful to see so many familiar faces, new friends, families, and neighbors enjoying everything the day had to offer.

And the best part? The rain held off! ☀️🍁 It turned into such a beautiful day celebrating all things fall, community, and Gallatin.

Join the Gallatin Public Library on Saturday, October 3rd as we celebrate beautiful art 🎨, local history 📚, and community partnerships 🤝 at this year’s Downtown Gallatin Main Street Fest! 🍂✨

We’ll be joined by the classy, kind, and Creative Carmella, whose art and jewelry will be available to purchase, local authors Linda Gregg and Steven Watts 📖, founder of My Story Root Meaghan Breinig 🌱, and historian, ghost whisperer 👻, and master of tall tales Jerry Lumpkins!

Additionally, volunteers from League of Women Voters of the US, My Happy Place Center, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the Friends of the Gallatin Public Library—joined by our very special guest, Miss Gallatin Adria Jackson!! 👑💫—will be here promoting their work. Stop by and chat with them if you’re interested in ways you can give back to our incredible community! ❤️

It’ll be a beautiful day of yummy food 🍴, live music 🎶, great vendors 🛍️, and plenty of community spirit! We can’t wait to welcome you to GPL and watch everyone FALL 🍁 even more in love with Gallatin! 🧡✨

📚 A quick update about signing in to Libby

Beginning tomorrow, September 21st, you’ll need a PIN to sign in to Libby with your Gallatin Public Library of Sumner County card. 🔐 This is part of a security update from OverDrive, the service that powers Libby.

When you sign in, you’ll enter your library card number and PIN as part of the usual login process. 📱

Already know your PIN? You’re all set!

If you don’t know your PIN or have trouble signing in, don’t worry—we’re happy to help! 💚 Give us a call at 615-452-1722 or stop by GPL, and we’ll help you get squared away. 😊

Your access to Libby isn’t changing. 📖You’ll still have access to the same collection of ebooks, audiobooks, and other digital materials you know and love. 🎧✨
