Just a reminder that author Ryan Cole will be at Bossard Library on Sunday, October 18 at 2:00 PM to talk about his book The Last Adieu.

The book narrates when the Marquis de Lafayette, hero of the American Revolution, returned to the United States in 1824-1825 for a farewell tour.

Lafayette toured all twenty-four states, including a stop in Gallipolis. The book captures the tour's spectacular pageantry and emotional impact, not only from Lafayette's perspective, but through the eyewitness accounts and recollections of everyday Americans who participated in the great celebration.

Mr. Cole will offer time for questions and a book signing following his presentation. Books will be available for purchase. Credit and debit cards accepted, cash only if it is exact change.

The Library's new StoryWalk title is now on display at the French Art Colony.

Our title for October is Fright School written by Janet Lawler and illustrated by Chiara Galletti.

"Scary season is almost here, Halloween is coming near."

"All the little ghosts, zombies, ghouls and other creepy creatures are attending fright school to learn the art of scaring trick-or-treaters."

"But, who will scare who on Halloween night?"

"Read the book to find out!"

Our next StoryWalk will be available the beginning of November.

StoryWalk is a way for children and adults to enjoy both the great outdoors and great children's books. Follow the pages of the story as you walk from frame to frame along the path. StoryWalk promotes literacy, physical activity, and parent/caregiver involvement.

The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg Hubbard Library. StoryWalk is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
