🚧 ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE: SUPERMAN CANYON ROAD

Bridge 8085 on Superman Canyon Road will remain closed as McKinley County begins replacing the nearly 50-year-old bridge that crosses the Puerco River between Historic Route 66 (NM 118) and Hasler Valley Road.

Construction will begin in October, with the project anticipated to take up to one year to complete. The new bridge will provide a safer, two-lane crossing and improve access for emergency responders.

“Public safety is the highest priority,” County Manager Anthony Dimas Jr. said.

Please use Hasler Valley Road as an alternate route and plan accordingly while construction is underway.

📅 Anticipated completion: October 2027

Thank you for your patience as McKinley County works to improve local infrastructure and public safety.

📢 Red Rock Park Update: Concession Stand Closure in 2027
As we continue making improvements at Red Rock Park, the concession stand will be closed throughout 2027. We will be remodeling the concession area to improve the overall experience at the park.
🌭 What does this mean for your event? Food and beverage concessions will not be available through the park during this time. Event organizers and rental partners should plan to make their own arrangements for food and drinks, subject to applicable park policies and insurance requirements.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we invest in the future of Red Rock Park! We look forward to welcoming visitors and event guests back with improved amenities in 2028.
📞 Have questions about upcoming rentals or facility availability? Contact park management at 505-722-3839.
We’re sharing a few of the conceptual renderings of the new concession area to give the public a sense of the improvements taking place. Thank you for your continued support of Red Rock Park!

Continuing with the theme of updating the public about projects happening at Red Rock Park, we are sharing a series of architectural renderings of a project we are particularly excited about.

The East Plaza and Pavilion is an outdoor space that features a barn-style gable roof, a stage, fire pits and plenty of room for seating. The intent of the design is to showcase the natural beauty of the red rocks and surrounding scenery.

The area will be adjacent to the Auditorium, which is the largest indoor venue that the park offers, and will be great for weddings, graduations and other medium-to-large events.

The East Plaza and Pavilion will offer another option for gathering, celebrating and enjoying Red Rock Park. Whether used on its own or in conjunction with the Auditorium, the space is designed to take advantage of the incredible setting while providing a versatile venue for a variety of events.

This project is currently in the design phase and we expect these designs will change. We’re excited to share more as this project takes shape and look forward to seeing this new space become part of the Red Rock Park experience.

A little shade goes a long way. ☀️

Since its installation this spring, the new canopy over the grandstand at Red Rock Park has already been putting in the work. Covering the upper section of the south grandstand, it gives spectators a welcome place to get out of the sun while taking in the action in the arena.

During this year’s Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial, the canopy provided much-needed shade for spectators enjoying the rodeo events during the heat of the day.

It’s one of several improvements McKinley County has made at Red Rock Park since taking over management — all part of making this special community gathering place better for everyone who uses it.
