The Zuni Mountains are flowing.
After nearly two inches of rain from the remnants of Hurricane Trudy, Milk Ranch Canyon comes alive with a series of cascading waterfalls, catching the morning light as the sun rises over the rugged landscape.
Tucked into a narrow bedrock ravine, these waterfalls are a reminder of how dramatically the landscape can transform when big storms bring moisture to the Zuni Mountains.
Want to see them for yourself? Milk Ranch Canyon is accessible from the Milk Ranch Canyon Trailhead along NM 400. Conditions can be slippery, so use caution when exploring, especially after heavy rainfall.
