GALT PD LAUNCHES DRONE AS FIRST RESPONDER PROGRAM

The Galt Police Department is proud to launch our new Drone as First Responder (DFR) Program, designed to improve safety for both our officers and the community.

DFR allows FAA Certified drone pilots to provide real-time information during certain calls for service, giving officers a clearer picture of what they may be responding to before they arrive. This can help identify hazards, locate suspects or missing persons, reduce unnecessary risk, and allow officers to make better-informed decisions during rapidly evolving incidents.

Community privacy remains a priority. DFR flights must be mission based and connected to a public safety incident occurring at the time of the flight. Our drones are not used simply to patrol neighborhoods or monitor the community. Operations are within department policy, applicable laws, and FAA requirements.

By giving officers a clearer picture of an incident as it unfolds, DFR helps us respond more effectively, reduce risk to the public, and enhance safety throughout our community.

Meet K9 Kilo!

Kilo is an 18-month-old Belgian Malinois originally from Mexico and one of the newest members of the Galt Police Department family.

Kilo has already built an impressive résumé, competing in numerous ring competitions and taking 1st place in every division he entered. He and his handler, Officer Miramontes, have spent the last three months training together.

Off duty, Kilo is a big fan of pup cups and plenty of attention.

If you see Kilo around town, be sure to say hello and help us give him a warm welcome!

Due to anticipated high temperatures, the Galt Police Department will keep its lobby open as a cooling center.

Dates: September 9 – 10th
Hours: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: Galt Police Department Lobby, 455 Industrial Drive, Galt, CA 95632

Water will be available to anyone attending the cooling center by request.

The Galt Police Department invites our community to join us as we honor and remember Officer Harminder Grewal on the five year anniversary of his passing.

A memorial and wreath laying ceremony will be held on Wednesday, August 26 at 12:00 p.m. at the Galt Police Department, 455 Industrial Drive.

The Galt Police Department would like to remind businesses and employees that it is illegal to sell or furnish alcohol to anyone under 21 years of age.

As part of our efforts to prevent underage alcohol sales, Galt PD will be conducting minor decoy operations at local businesses in the future.

Remember to check identification, know the signs of fake or altered IDs, and make sure employees are trained on responsible alcohol sales. If you’re unsure, don’t make the sale.

Selling alcohol to a minor can result in criminal and administrative penalties and may impact a business’s alcoholic beverage license.

Thank you to our local businesses for helping us keep Galt safe.

🚨 SOBRIETY & DRIVER’S LICENSE CHECKPOINT 🚨

On Saturday, August 22nd, between 7:00pm and 4:00am, GPD officers will be conducting a checkpoint at a location within the City of Galt.

Advanced notice of these checkpoints are required by law, but more importantly, it serves as a reminder to the public about the dangers of impaired driving. By sharing this information, our goal is to encourage responsible choices and prevent tragedies before they occur.

Our officers are dedicated to protecting the community and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to arrive home safely. Thank you for doing your part.

Last night, a driver in a red pickup truck was doing donuts near Spaans Dr. and Moore Ct. when things went sideways. The driver lost control, hit a curb and a light pole, and completely disabled the truck.

The truck was impounded for 30 days, and the driver received a citation for exhibition of speed.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt. The truck, however, will be sitting this one out for the next 30 days.
