🎶 Honoring Texas History Through Music! 🎶
The Burnet Choir had the wonderful opportunity to perform for the Sons of the Republic of Texas during their annual meeting in Galveston. Our students sang in honor of two important figures in Texas history, Sidney Sherman and David G. Burnet, both of whom are laid to rest here in Galveston.
Sidney Sherman was a prominent soldier during the Texas Revolution and played a significant role in the Battle of San Jacinto. He is often associated with the famous rallying cry, “Remember the Alamo!” David G. Burnet served as the first provisional president of the Republic of Texas in 1836, helping guide the young republic during a pivotal time in its history.
It was a special honor for our choir to celebrate these influential leaders and help keep Texas history alive through music. We are proud of our students for representing the Burnet community and sharing their voices in remembrance of those who helped shape our great state! 💙🎵
