SUMMER BRIDGE: βοΈπ More than 70 students in TKβ6th grade participated in Hazard Elementary's Summer Bridge Program this week, strengthening their reading, writing, science, and math skills (Goal 1) while staying engaged through exciting enrichment opportunities (Goal 2) including STEAM, robotics, leadership activities, and even golf! Kudos to these scholars for staying engaged in learning this week!β³π€π¨ππ

Summer learning is off to a strong start in GGUSD! βοΈπ
This week, more than 900 high school students began summer programs designed to support learning, growth and a successful school year ahead. Freshman Seminar is being hosted at Los Amigos and Santiago high schools for select Incoming freshmen to provide targeted support that will prepare students for a successful transition to high school.
At the same time, Bolsa and Santiago high schools welcomed hundreds of students to summer school which provides an accelerated timeline for students to earn credits, receive academic support, and help students stay on track for graduation. GGUSD is proud to see students making the most of their summer as they continue learning, growing and preparing for future success! π

More than 120 GGUSD Career and Technical Education (CTE) interns are spending this week sharpening their professional skills before heading out to internship sites across Orange County. Students are learning valuable workplace essentials, including how to complete time cards, take professional headshots, communicate effectively in the workplace, and represent themselves with confidence.
We are proud that our 15 Career Pathways provide students with unique real-world internship experiences that allows students to connect classroom learning with future career opportunities. GGUSD is excited to see these future professionals make an impact throughout the community! π

π At last night's meeting, the GGUSD Board of Education recognized outgoing Student Board Representative Christy Getachew for her outstanding year of service, representing the voices of 36,000+ students across the district.
Throughout her term, Christy brought student voice, insight, and advocacy to board discussions while also serving as a leader on the district's inaugural Student Senate. A graduate of Rancho Alamitos High School, she leaves behind a remarkable legacy of leadership through ASB, the Black Student Union, Girls League, California Scholarship Federation, church leadership, and the Westminster CHP Explorer Program.
This fall, Christy will attend Cal State Fullerton, where she plans to major in Criminal Justice and minor in Child Development. GGUSD thanks her for her dedication, leadership, and commitment to ensuring students felt heard, valued, and represented. Congratulations, Christy, and best wishes on this exciting next chapter! πππ
