Looking for a place to recycle your natural Christmas tree for free this season? From December 22 until Friday, Jan. 22, 2024, you can recycle your trees, courtesy of Sedgwick County Government Public Works.
Bonus - you can receive free mulch!
residents can drop off real trees for recycling at the water tower (620 Section Line Road). Please be sure all decorations have been removed from the tree prior to drop off.

Quantities are limited and we reserve the right to limit the number distributed to individuals/groups so that we can share them with as many people as possible. 😁

It'll feel like Christmas today as temperatures struggle to rise out of the 30s and light snow lingers across central Kansas. Light snow will continue across central Kansas through Tuesday, and cooler temperatures remain in place through the end of the week.

OPEN THE NEXT TWO SUNDAYS! Phil's Liquor Cabinet is traditionally closed on Sunday, but with Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve falling on Sunday this year, it didn’t seem right that we should remain closed. So we’ll be open the hours Kansas law says we can be open on Sunday: 9 am to 8 pm.

Above normal temperatures are expected to prevail into early Sunday as rain chances return to the area tonight with precipitation lingering Tuesday. A cool down will occur for Christmas when rain may mix with snow across portions of central Kansas. Little or no accumulation is expected.

Remember that our Garden Plain Elementary School and Garden Plain High School students are out of school the next few weeks for winter break. Please be extra aware and careful as they may be out and about due to the predicted warm weather!
