The Garland Youth Council is appointed by the Garland City Council to give youth a voice in City government and to allow youth to learn more about how local government impacts their lives. The Garland Youth Council is a 20 member board appointed by the Garland City Council to serve the needs of the youth in the community as well as serve as a liaison to the City Council and leadership of the city.

✅ Complete the application form and answer ALL questions
✅ Submit at least 1 recommendation letter from a teacher, counselor, mentor, or supervisor

✅ Review the attached calendar and confirm your availability to attend all regularly scheduled meetings & socials 🗓️✨
✅ Review the Appointee Agreement and submit signatures from both the applicant and parent/guardian ✍️

Applications for the Garland Youth Council (GYC) are now open for the 2026-2027 semester! ⚖️
GYC gives Garland high school students, from freshmen to seniors, the opportunity to connect directly with the City Council, share what matters most to local youth and learn how local government works.
Thinking about applying? Make sure you:
• Are in grades 9–12 and live in Garland OR attend a GISD school
• Submit two letters of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, mentor, or supervisor
