💙💛 CHARACTER COUNTS WEEK 💛💙

The entire district has been focused on the importance of the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship!

The week of October 19-23 , we’re celebrating with a fun Spirit Week to bring these values to life and remind our students that character matters- in the classroom, in our community, and in everything we do.

Homecoming spirit week starts tomorrow! 🎉🎉🎉

10/04/2026

Garrett-Keyser-Butler Community School District will operate under a two-hour delay tomorrow, Monday, October 5. The two-hour delay will apply to all GKB schools.

Due to water-related issues stemming from last week’s heavy rainfall, crews have spent the weekend working to remediate the affected areas. While significant progress has been made, additional time is needed Monday morning to ensure impacted classrooms at J.E. Ober Elementary are properly reset and ready for students and staff.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of our families as we work to ensure our learning spaces are safe and ready for students after the situation was addressed over the weekend.

Today, Zach Delauder passed the railroad spike onto Todd Nodine in how he exemplifies September’s Character Counts Pillar of Fairness. Todd does this every day in how he meets some of our most challenging students to meet their needs and ensure they truly have a FAIR opportunity to learn.

Congratulations, Todd and thank you for all the work you do every day! 🚂🚂🚂

🎉The Character Counts pillar for the month of August was Respect. Due to his emphasis of respect as a value within his classroom and willingness to take on car-rider "tech" duties from Mrs. VandeZande and Mrs. Joseph at the drop of a hat, Mr. Zach Delauder has received the railroad spike based on the August Character Pillar. Congratulations Zach! 🎉
