The NYS Republican Party sent out, we are guessing primarily to unaffiliated voters, a hit job mailer on Brett which was arguably slanderous - since they knew it wasn’t true - using the tried and true right wing technique of accusing their opponent of the very thing their own candidate was subject to being called out on.

I helped co-found Pro Football Network, sold my ownership stake, and years later used that firsthand industry experience to sound the alarm about ESPN’s multibillion-dollar sports betting deal.

My former company was a fraction of ESPN’s size and influence, and the business concept we explored never even materialized. That’s exactly why I recognized the potential dangers of a deal on ESPN’s enormous scale.

Kevin Byrne conveniently ignores all of that, twisting my words into a political attack.

Meanwhile, Kevin spent years championing casino expansion right here in the Hudson Valley, even writing his own op-ed promoting it.

I warned consumers about the risks of the gambling industry. Kevin advocated expanding it.
