Yesterday at approximately 17:00 garrison was called out to assist Central Heights Appleby and ESD 2 with a structure fire off of CR 915. When units arrived they found a fully involved structure fire and began packing up to go inside. Everyone was out of the house at that time so no search and rescue was not needed. With the crews working hard to get the fire knocked down our own chiefs packed up to help. Good work to all the men and women who were on scene.

Please refrain from burning today. With the red flag warning in place you will see rapid growth in wildfires. Also remember to avoid doing activities that could ignite a fire.

Today Assistant Chief Grant Wheeler, Lieutenant Jade Carroll, and Firefighter Connor Weston went and spoke at SFA during one of their classes about the opportunities they could have to volunteer. Discussed were the rolls in the volunteer world, what Garrison fire department does, and the community out reach we have. The haunted house and other fundraiser were spoken about in how they could get community service hours through helping. Thank you Mrs Harkness for having us today!

Today assistant chief Grant wheeler and firefighter Doug Harris went and spoke to the 4H club about fire safety and the different things our department does for the community. They also spoke about our junior program to the kids that were interested in the fire department. They were able to hold some of our tools we use.

Today our firefighters got to learn about different techniques on fighting wildfires. They also learned how to deploy a fire shelter in case a fire overtook the area that they are fighting in.

Side note- this would be the first skills day we didn’t get a picture of Jade asleep 😂!

At approximately 16:17 hours Garrison Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 200 block of County Road 278 along with Central Heights/ Appleby Fire Department, Martinsville Fire Department, and Swift Shady Grove Fire Department. When units arrived they found a single wide mobile home fully involved. Crews were advised of an injured occupant of the home by an Nacogdoches deputy. EMS was immediately notified and a firefighter / paramedic on scene began treating the victim while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. The injured individual was transported to a landing site by EMS then airlifted to a higher level of care.

Last night Garrison Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle fire on 59. When units arrived they found and 18 wheeler with its back tires on fire. T-42 and E-43 arrived on scene. T-42 deployed its bumper line and units began suppressing the fire. Garrison units cleared the scene shortly after
