We think this is important for you to see. We may not all always agree on policy, but when you go to the polls on November 3rd, please take a moment to think about the kind of people you want making decisions about our Borough’s future. Sometimes character matters more.

In the face of the divisive politics we see at the national level, we can keep Garwood from mirroring that kind of chaos, and choose leaders in Garwood that we can be proud of.

Happy Labor Day from the Garwood Democratic Club & Committee! Today honors generations of workers and unions who won fair wages, safe conditions, and the very concept of the weekend itself. We carry that respect forward to the workers of today who keep the world moving. Wishing a safe and restful weekend to all!

Team has been out all weekend knocking doors and talking Garwood. DM the campaign page Elect Blumenstock for Mayor, Boto, Bianco and Tague for Council to request a sign, or just ask anyone from the team you see around!

In what has become a late-summer tradition in Garwood, voters are once again left wondering who the Garwood GOP will put forward as its candidates for Mayor and Council at the eleventh hour.

Year after year, placeholder candidates appear on the primary ballot—only to be replaced when the filing deadline approaches.

That raises a simple question: Do you want leaders who are ready and committed to serve, or candidates assembled at the last minute?

Do you want your Mayor to be someone who only decided to run—or was asked to run—at the last possible moment? Someone who has shown little prior interest in seeking the position? And, perhaps most importantly, someone who may not be prepared to make the significant, around-the-clock commitment that serving as Mayor requires?

The Garwood Democratic team of Mayor Jen Blumenstock, Councilwoman Karina Boto, Councilwoman Stephanie Bianco, and Recreation Committee Member Brian Tague has been committed to this race for months:

They are organized, engaged with residents, and have a plan ready to keep Garwood moving in the right direction.

Commitment matters. The choice is clear: Blumenstock, Boto, Bianco & Tague.

As Chair of the Garwood Democratic Committee, I’m thrilled to endorse Tai Cooper for Union County Clerk. At a time when the Clerk’s office is more critical than ever to our democracy, we need a strong leader with a proven track record. Here is why she has my full support.

Reason 1: The Clerk’s office isn’t just paperwork — it’s the front line of election integrity. Its full statutory functions also touch many of our residents’ other basic rights. At a moment when elections are under sustained attack nationally, Union County needs a Clerk who takes both the service-oriented nature of the role and the responsibility to protect our residents’ rights seriously. Hands down, that’s Tai Cooper.

Reason 2: From my service on the Garwood Council, to working in law enforcement across multiple jurisdictions, I know effective county-municipal coordination shapes whether our government actually works for the people at the level they are most likely to need it. Tai’s many years of experience across municipal, state, and federal government means she won’t need a learning curve for this essential responsibility.

Reason 3: Government modernization is a necessity, not an option. Tai brings the same kind of forward-looking approach to systems and technology that the Union County Clerk’s Office is already known for. She will continue to build upon that strong foundation as we are faced with a rapidly changing legal and regulatory landscape, without losing sight of the constituents she’s serving.

Tai Cooper has my full support, and I hope my fellow County Committee members will join me in casting their votes for her next week!
