September is Su***de Awareness Month.

This month is a reminder that su***de prevention is something we all have a role in. You never truly know what someone may be going through behind a smile or a simple, "I'm good."

If you're struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or a crisis resource such as the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. This resource provides free, confidential, 24/7 support for people experiencing suicidal thoughts, emotional distress, or a mental health or substance-use crisis. For more information, contact the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention- Indiana Chapter.

The Gary Parole District staff kicked off September by wearing our t-shirts that were made available for purchase by the IDOC Wellness team through Indiana Correctional Industries in support of Su***de Awareness Month.

This past Friday, PA II Ward and Agent Reese-Williams attended the ground breaking ceremony on the future home of Brothers' Keeper at 2196–2160 Washington Street.

This new facility will provide a safe, modern space that restores dignity and expands support for Gary's homeless men and veterans.

We look forward to continuing our working relationship with Director Mootye and Brother’s Keeper.
