Join us at 5pm October 22nd as we march to demand justice for Kenneth Williams Sr, and many others.

In Indiana alone there have been 290 killings by police from 2013 - 2025. This year on August 28th, we in Gary experienced the loss of a community member, Kenneth Williams Sr., who was shot at over 100 times by Gary PD at the Gary Metro Station where he worked as a security guard. The last update we've received regarding this tragic and horrific display of police brutality was August 30th; nearly two months ago. This update stated that Kenneth Williams Sr. was "acting erratic", which is no justification for such extreme escalation.

We demand that Gary PD & Gary Metro immediately release the footage from the shooting with audio included. We demand that police be held responsible for the countless times they have shot apparently mentally unwell people who needed help more than anything else!

Join the PDC on October 22nd as we march from Gary Metro to the Gary Police Department. On this national day of protest against police brutality we will come together and demand answers to the many questions surrounding the death of Kenneth Williams Sr.

List of Immediate Demands:

• Immediate release of both GPD’s and Metro Station’s audio and camera footage of the shooting and the events leading up to it.
• An independent civilian investigation and review: no more cops investigating their own!
• A statement from Metro security in regards to the shooting.
• No impunity for police violence. Independent investigations, public accountability, and prosecution for criminal abuse of power.
• Demilitarize our communities. End military weapons transfers to local police and prohibit military equipment from being used against peaceful protests and strikes.
• End militarized training of police.
• End political surveillance. Ban facial recognition and warrantless mass tracking; expose police contracts with private surveillance corporations.
• Stop criminalizing poverty. End the policing of homelessness, survival activities, and peaceful tenant and labor organizing.
• No strikebreaking! Especially with public money!
• Prohibit the use of public resources to intimidate workers, suppress picket lines, or undermine collective action.
• Community control over public safety. Give working-class communities meaningful decision making power over policing, surveillance, and public safety budgets.
• Fund human needs, not militarization. Prioritize housing, healthcare, education, youth programs, and community led violence prevention.
• Build a united front against repression. Unite workers, tenants, students, and oppressed communities against police violence, corporate surveillance, and attacks on the right to organize.
