Keep Gastonia Beautiful recently teamed up with our incredible NC Extension Master Gardener Volunteers to give monarch butterflies a helping hand by planting milkweed plants!
🌱 83 milkweed plants at Martha Rivers Park
🌱 103 milkweed plants at the Gastonia Farmers Market
🌱 10 milkweed plants at the Aunt Charlotte Community Garden
Milkweed is the only plant where monarch butterflies lay their eggs, making it an essential part of their life cycle. These new pollinator-friendly plantings will provide important habitat and food sources for monarchs, bees, and other beneficial pollinators.
And the work isn’t stopping there! Our dedicated volunteers are already planning additional plantings throughout the city and are on a mission to create even more pollinator-friendly spaces for our community to enjoy!
💚 Thank you to our Master Gardener Volunteers for helping Gastonia grow a little greener, a little brighter, and a lot more butterfly-friendly!

Our garden is growing beautifully this season! 🌱🌼 From vegetables and herbs to flowers that support our pollinator friends, the Aunt Charlotte McClee Community Garden is full of life and community spirit.
We currently have just ONE garden bed remaining for anyone interested in growing their own plants, veggies, or flowers this year! Come grow with us in the Highland neighborhood! 💚
For information on reserving the last bed or volunteering in the garden, send us a message [email protected]
