Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

From all of us at Crowders Mountain Volunteer Fire & Rescue, we extend our deepest gratitude to the heroes who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy each day. We also keep their families and loved ones in our thoughts today.

As we gather with friends and family this Memorial Day, let us take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day and remember those who never made it home.

It is with a heavy heart that share the passing of long time board of director Susie McMillan.

Susie dedicated many years to the citizens of Crowders Mountain Fire and Rescue district. She served with Bessemer City Rescue as an EMT making a difference in the lives of many. She later transitioned into her role as a board member at Crowders Mountain where she based every vote on the citizens of the district. Susie was always one to brighten a room. She committed her life to public service not only in her volunteer compacity but also in her career as a records specialist for the Gaston County Police. No doubt she impacted many throughout her life. Susie will be greatly missed.

Congratulations FF Alex Vargas on his successful completion of North Carolina Breathing Equipment Survival School. This is a super intense week long school of survival skills conducted under live fire conditions. Not everyone who begins the class is able to finish but FF Vargas graduated today after completing the final drill scenario. Station 55 congratulates FF Vargas!!!
