The Gaston County Public Library would like to extend their appreciation for J. Brett Keeter and Jeffrey F. Funderburk for their many years of service on the library Board of Trustees. Yesterday they were awarded with these plaques in acknowledgment of their service. J. Brett Keeter has been on the board since 2002 and Jeffrey F. Funderburk has served since 2006. Thank you both for 20+ years of service as library Board of Trustees members!

Our seed banks are closing up shop at all Gaston County Public Library branch locations by end of day Thursday, October 22nd. Thank you to our community for your continued support of this endeavor! We would like to extend a huge thank you and shoutout the Master Gardener volunteers who packed and distributed 35,000+ seed packs this year! We will see you again in February for spring seeds 🌱

There are eighteen new bestsellers, eleven new movies, two new audiobooks, one new music CD, 59 new children's books, and 518 other new books, including 500 that are available online.

The new bestsellers this week include "Miss Wolcott's Ghost," "Into the Quiet: Following Jesus in a World of Noise," and "Looking for Terry: A Memoir." The new movies this week include "Masters of the Universe," "Hadestown: The Musical," and "Moana."

👻 Many of our staff (though only 4 are pictured!) went to the ghost tour in Dallas tonight for our monthly employee engagement activity! Gaston County Museum of Art & History has created a wonderful tour and they even include a story or two about our Dallas library branch. If you haven’t been on the tour yet, they’re doing them every Friday night in October at 7 pm and 8 pm, so go ahead and visit their page to learn more about how to reserve your spot!

Uncover a Mystery and mark your page! We're excited to announce our Fall 2026 Bookmark Contest for kids and teens in kindergarten - 12th grade. One winner will be chosen from each of four age group categories to have their bookmark printed and made available to patrons at all library locations. In order to enter, you should pick up an entry form at your favorite library branch or you can print your own here: https://gastonlibrary.org/DocumentCenter/View/1402/2026-Fall-Youth-Bookmark-Contest-Entry-Form. Full rules and details are available on the entry form.
Entries can be returned to any library branch location and are due no later than 2:00PM on Saturday, October 31.
