The NC OSFM initiative is underway and this year we partnered with East Gaston Volunteer Fire Department.

Shoutout to our community partners at Safe Kids Gaston County and CaroMont Health who came out to help install smoke alarms with us!

We have already installed more than 40 working smoke alarms in the homes of Gaston County residents!

✨Thanks, Gaston County Schools, for highlighting the Flash A Light on Literacy Program at Tryon Elementary School and Bessemer City Central Elementary Schools. ✨

Once again, thanks to both 🚨 Tryonota Fire Department and 🚨 Bessemer City Fire Department for making the fire truck 🚒 rides possible at each school, as well as to 📚 Promising Pages for giving us the ability to put a book in the hands of every single child who participated in this program! Additionally, we have to give a shout-out to 🛼 Kate's Skating Rinks - Gastonia and Indian Trail, who helped us raise funds to cover the 🍕pizza parties for both schools.

✨This is what you all helped make possible! Thank you all for your support and your belief in our program!✨

🌀It's . 🌀

Now that you have made your kit (ahem -see yesterday's post if you have not), it is time to make your plan.

Have a plan that everyone in your household knows and can follow in the event of a major storm or evacuation. The time to talk about it is NOW - not when the storm is already headed our way.

🌀It's . 🌀

There is no time like the present to sit down with your family and build a kit!

🔦Remember that this kit should have enough supplies to sustain everyone in your home (including your pets🐾) for 72 hours in the event that first responders are not able to get to you.

❗Pro Tip: Don't wait for the meteorologist to tell you the storm is on the way to start stocking your kit !
