America's 250th Birthday is just one month away! To celebrate, our office is partnering with Gaston 250 to commission a time capsule that will be opened in 50 years. As part of that project, we are holding a photo contest for images to include in the time capsule that tell the story of Gaston County's history! Anyone may enter the contest and multiple entries are welcomed.

All photos will be included in a digital album, but a select group will be chosen to be included in print form. The submission link will be open all the way through July, so be sure to submit photos of how you celebrate America250 this year!

Our phone services are currently down as County IT is completing an upgrade to our current phone system.

Over the next few weeks, we will be seeing upgrades to our phones, computers, servers, and credit card machines. All of these systems may be temporarily impacted until the upgrades are complete. We appreciate your patience as we work through these much-needed updates to our systems!

This week our team participated in the Keep America Beautiful "Greatest American Cleanup" event in celebration of America250. Thanks to Keep Gastonia Beautiful for the supplies and for a great team of people that were willing to stay after work on a Friday to cleanup the courthouse grounds. The Register of Deeds Team collected nearly 20 pounds of trash in about an hour!

Our office is currently seeking a well-qualified individual to join our team as a Preservation Assistant Register of Deeds. This is NOT an entry-level position. Well-qualified applicants will posses an Associate's Degree or higher as well as 2 or more years of experience in a related field.
