🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office wants to make the public aware of a scam involving phone calls to family members of individuals who are incarcerated.

We have received information that individuals are receiving calls claiming that a loved one is in jail and that a payment is required to secure their release. This is a scam. The jail has confirmed that it does not call family members to demand money in exchange for releasing an inmate.

Please remain cautious if you receive a call like this. Do not send money, provide financial information, or share personal information with the caller.

If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and contact the appropriate jail or law enforcement agency directly using an official phone number to verify the information.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this post. Scammers often target families during stressful situations, and staying informed can help protect you and your loved ones.

THE SCOTT COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE STATISTICS FOR THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2026:

-Scott County Central Dispatch received a total of 16,771 calls for the three month period. Of those calls 3,683 dispatched to the Sheriffs Office.

-Total number of domestic calls and protective orders-105

-Criminal papers served- 810. 492 felonies, and 318 misdemeanors. Included in that are 101 drug related cases and 8 DUI related.

-Sheriff's Deputies issued 412 traffic summons and were dispatched to 97 motor vehicle accidents.

-Deputies served 1,389 civil process papers.

-There were 493 IBR's (incident based reports) completed with 115 active, marked 3 inactive and 160 closed with an arrest.

-The Sheriffs Office Court Security Deputies provided 398 hours of courtroom security and 520 of front door/ entrance security.

-The Sheriffs Office conducted 26 traffic checkpoints.

-Sheriff Deputies did 60 out of state extraditions and traveled

-Deputies provided 1O in state transports

-The Sheriffs Office processed 121 concealed carry permits.

-The Sheriffs Office processed 245 fingerprints.

-Sheriffs Deputies responded to 56 calls to unlock vehicles

THE SCOTT COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE STATISTICS FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2026:

-Scott County Central Dispatch received a total of 5,388 calls for the 31-day period. Of those calls received 1,250 were dispatched to the Sheriff’s Office.

-Total number of domestic calls and protective orders- 44

-Criminal papers served- 226. 150 felonies, and 76 misdemeanors. Included in that are 14 drug related cases and 3 DUI related.

-Sheriff’s Deputies issued 87 traffic summons and were dispatched to 45 motor vehicle accidents.

-Deputies served 528 civil process papers.

-There were 176 IBR’s (incident based reports) completed with 39 active, 3 marked inactive and 49 closed with an arrest.

-The Sheriff’s Office Court Security Deputies provided 130 hours of courtroom security and 176 hours of front door/ entrance security.

-The Sheriff’s Office conducted 8 traffic checkpoints.

-Sheriff Deputies did 25 out of state extraditions and traveled 6,705 miles.

-Deputies provided 3 in state transports.

-The Sheriff’s Office processed 32 concealed carry permits.

-The Sheriff’s Office processed 79 fingerprints.

-Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 19 calls to unlock vehicles.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of scam calls involving individuals impersonating a deputy or representative of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

Please be cautious if you receive an unexpected phone call claiming to be from our office. Do not provide personal information, financial information, passwords, or other sensitive information over the phone.

If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, hang up and contact us directly using an official phone number to verify the information.
