🎆 Murray Hill questions are answered in a new book from the County Historian’s Office!

📖 The History of Murray Hill: An Ideal Spot, by retired County Historian Amie Alden, is a journey of over 200 years on and around Murray Hill, Mount Morris.

🏨 From Seneca residents and the Murray family to a tuberculosis hospital and a county campus, the book is packed with biographies, stories, and images.

✒️ To celebrate this foundational new resource, the County Historian’s Office is hosting a book launch in the Auditorium on the Murray Hill Campus on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 11am-1:30pm and 4pm-5:30pm. All are welcome!

🖼️ As part of the open-house event, newly acquired nineteenth-century watercolor paintings of Murray Hill will be exhibited and light refreshments will be provided. At 3pm, County Historian Holly Watson will lead a walking tour of the Murray Hill campus to explore how the property developed over the years.

💡 “I hope this book clears up confusion, dispels myths, and leads to appreciation of the who, what, when, where, and why about Murray Hill,” said Amie Alden.

📚 Softcover books cost $25 each and hardcover books are $35 each (cash or check only). Pre-orders are now available on the County Historian’s website (https://buff.ly/E3u4Za3). Books will be available for pickup and sale at the launch and after June 4 each weekday between 1-4:30pm at the County Historian's Office, 5 Murray Hill Drive, Mt. Morris, NY 14510. Shipping is also available by request.

🙋 For any questions about the book or the book launch event, contact the County Historian’s Office at 585-243-7955 or [email protected].

Governor Hochul has taken steps to protect Essential Plan coverage for most enrollees, but there are changes that will impact some enrollees starting July 1, 2026. In addition, there are also changes to Medicaid that will take effect on January 1, 2027.

The NYS Department of Health is sharing various resources that detail the impacts of the funding cuts from federal budget legislation H.R. 1 (Public Law No. 119-21) to New York’s Essential Plan and Medicaid programs.
