On today's date, the Livingston County Sheriff's Office hosted an annual multi-agency Mounted Patrol training, which was attended by the Erie County Sheriff's Office, Livingston County Sheriff's Office, Wyoming County Sheriff's Office, and the Rochester Police Department.

Topics included Vehicle Extractions, Equitation, Tactical Formations, Fi****ms, and more!

Vista Hill is now back open!

**Road Closure**

Vista Hill at the intersection of Kidd Rd T/O Dansville will be closed today for a culvert replacement. Please plan accordingly. Thank you!

UPDATE: As of 5:20pm the roadway has been reopened to all traffic.

ROAD CLOSURE:

Lakeville Rd (US Route 20A) is currently closed between Pole Bridge Rd and North Rd in the town of Geneseo while emergency crews tend to a motor vehicle crash. Please attempt to find an alternate route.

Today we highlight Deputy Vandewalker!

Deputy Vandewalker joined the Livingston County Sheriff's Office in May of 2024. He attended the Rural Police Training Academy (RPTA) and completed the training in 2021. Deputy Vandewalker worked for the Wayland Police Department for two years prior to beginning his career with our agency. Deputy Vandewalker is currently assigned to the afternoon shift with the Patrol Division. He is also a member of our Drone Response Unit. His favorite part of the job is being able to not only interact with the communities but meet new people as well!

Deputy Vandewalker graduated from Livonia High School in 2017 and attended Monroe Community College where he received various certifications in HVAC and Solar. When he is not working, Deputy Vandewalker spends most of his time outdoors enjoying nature. He is an avid hunter, enjoys kayaking, and taking photos.

Today, Dispatcher Heather Gross retired from the Livingston County Sheriff's Office after 31 years of dedicated service.

Dispatcher Gross began her career at the Livingston County Sheriff's Office on October 24th, 1994 in the Records Division. In June of 1999, she transferred to the Communications Bureau where she found her love of helping the community. Her duties included dispatching public safety personnel and equipment for 19 fire departments, 13 EMS agencies, 6 law enforcement municipalities, the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and numerous other state agencies.

Dispatcher Gross was a member of our Crisis Negotiations Team as well as a Communications Training Dispatcher, which she became in 2018.

Outside of her work at the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, Dispatcher Gross was also a volunteer for the Geneseo Ambulance as well as a part time records clerk and dispatcher for the Dansville Police Department.

Over her career, Dispatcher Gross has been the recipient of several awards, to include: Monroe/Livingston Regional Medical Services Council Communications Specialist of the Year award in 2004, Communications Bureau Member of the Year in 2023, the Command Staff Achievement in 2025 as well as the Sheriff's Office Member of the Year in 2025.
