These four members spent their weekend away from families learning essential skills needed to help keep our department safe while working on high risk incidents.

All of our members sign up to make a difference in their community; no one expects anything in return.

However, in this day of decreasing memberships, and increasing annual calls for service, this is a great incentive for volunteer firefighters and EMS providers across the state and region.

We thank our local and state leaders for following through on this measure until the governor signed it into law today.

It's official: the state tax credit for our vol. firefighters and EMS providers is going from $200 to $800.

I was proud to cosponsor this bill and fight for it alongside our local fire departments and EMS squads. Together with my colleagues in the Legislature, we got it across the finish line.

When you dial 911, you need to know someone will answer. Our firefighters make sure they do. This is real action to help recruit and keep them. Thank you to everyone who answers the call. đźš’

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Jon Barrett in completing the NYS Fire Extinguisher Maintenance course. Jon has traveled to the New York State Academy of Fire Science the last two days to complete this course and expand the knowledge base of our department.

We thank Jon for his commitment to training and professional development; especially before completing additional training this upcoming weekend for the department as well!

Please join us in congratulating FF/EMT Ethan Dunn on the completion of his probationary period with the White Springs Fire Association.

Ethan has completed all of the requirements of new members and has been welcomed in as a full member of the department after joining with his EMT license; Ethan came to us as a Hobart and William Smith student looking to get more involved in emergency services.

Congratulations, Ethan!

Please join us in congratulating the following members on their recently completed state courses:

Probationary Firefighter Brayden Spina completed his Basic Fire Police course this afternoon.

Firefighter Matthew Alexander completed his Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) course.

Assistant Chief Nick Madia has completed his Fire Investigation for the Line Officer course.

These members represent the strong work ethic of our members who are constantly training both formally and informally to ensure that they are well prepared to assist you when you request help.

We have a number of folks completing other essential programs like the basic firefighter and EMT courses and look forward to continuing to highlight our members to our community.

This evening your White Springs Firefighters trained on apparatus operator roles - we went beyond driving the truck and focused on how to be more effective as an operator on scene.

Training like this is essential to ensure that our members stay on top of their game to assist you when you need it most.

While our more senior members focused on apparatus operation, newer members were integrated into the drill by having them practice hose line advancement and use, learning to repack the hose beds, and establishing a water supply.

By integrating skills across experience levels, we can ensure learning across the membership so everyone learns to work together effectively.
