We are thrilled to welcome our new Emergency Communications Manager, Michelle Porter. Michelle embarked on her career at Georgetown Police Department in 1994 as a dispatcher, laying the foundation for a remarkable journey in public safety that spans over 30 years. In 1999, she transitioned to Williamson County Emergency Communications, where she ultimately retired as the Assistant Director of Professional Standards in 2021.
During her extensive tenure at Williamson County, Michelle excelled as a frontline telecommunicator and later took on a pivotal training role. She was instrumental in establishing a comprehensive telecommunicator academy and a rigorous credentialing process, ensuring that our telecommunicators receive exceptional training and are among the best in the field. Michelle skillfully managed communications during significant incidents, including large-scale wildland fires, ice storms, hurricanes, and a line-of-duty death. Furthermore, she served as a communications liaison for the Texas Line of Duty Death Task Force, showcasing her commitment to the community and the agencies she supported.
Even after retirement, Michelle continued her dedication to public safety through her work in Quality Assurance with the Denise Amber Lee Foundation, a cause that deeply resonates with her. This passion drives her to ensure that telecommunicators are not only well-trained but also empowered to perform at their highest potential.
In her leisure time, Michelle enjoys frequent trips to Disney World and cherishes moments spent with her son, family, and friends.
We are proud to have Michelle return to where her impressive career began. She is eager to serve the citizens and visitors of Georgetown once more and is committed to collaborating with our talented team at Georgetown Public Safety Communications to elevate our organization to new heights.
