Scott County Humane Society - "For Pets' Sake"

What a GREAT day at the 2026 Scott County Humane Society Paw Putters Golf Scramble!

A HUGE thank-you to all of our golf teams, generous sponsors, dedicated volunteers and supporters who came out today to make this event such a success!

We had a fantastic day filled with golf, laughter, friendly competition and, most importantly, a community coming together to help save the lives of homeless pets! 🐶🐱

Your generosity helps SCHS provide lifesaving medical care, foster homes, adoptions, spay/neuter assistance and so much more for animals who need us most.

Special thanks to Canewood Golf Course for hosting us and to everyone who helped make today possible!

Whether you swung a club, sponsored a hole, donated an auction item or volunteered your time, YOU made a difference today!

From all of us at Scott County Humane Society—and the countless paws you help save—THANK YOU! ❤️🐾

🙌🏽 This past week was a great one for adoptions, with 16 cats, two dogs, and three guinea pigs finding their new homes.

🐈Ten cats were adopted from our Adoption Center, including Smokey, Bunny, Mario, Sepia, Annie, and cheese cats Gouda and Swiss. Momma cat Carissa went home with her kittens, Simone and Wesley.

🐶🐹Dogs Rocky and Teo also found their new homes, as did the Golden Girl guinea pigs. Blanche, Dorothy, and Rose would surely tell their adopter, “Thank you for being a friend.”

😻Athena was adopted at Feeders, while Aristides and Nyan found their homes at PetSmart on Saturday. Danielle, Mainey, and Vivian were adopted from Central Purrk Cafe. Danielle is now greeting visitors at the Hopewell Museum in Paris. Stop by if you can, and be sure to give Danielle some pets while you’re there.

👀 If you haven’t already, stop by our new Adoption Center at 1376 Lexington Road in Georgetown. We cannot wait for you to see it. We are thrilled to provide our animals with a stimulating environment while they await adoption. In addition to our Adoption Center, you can meet our adoptable animals at Petsense, Feeders Supply, and Central Purrk Cafe, all located in Georgetown. On Saturdays, we also host an adoption event at PetSmart on Pavilion Way in Lexington. Stop by, meet some amazing animals, and thank these wonderful businesses for supporting the Scott County Humane Society.

🙌🏽 This past week was a great week for adoptions, with a total of 22 cats finding new homes.

😻 Thirteen cats were adopted from our Adoption Center, including Badger, Brake Pad, Dolly Whitaker, Ella Langley, Jam, and Rudy. Evangeline and Honeycomb, Kronk and Yzma, and Piff and Sprinkles were adopted in pairs, while Toast went home with our new office worker, Hope.

☕️ Central Purrk celebrated four adoptions this week: the lovable bonded pair Mr. Frodo and Samwise, as well as Aurora and Jolene. Five cats were adopted Saturday at PetSmart, including Anneliese, Goomba, and Phil, while Madame Blueberry and Petunia Rhubarb went home as a pair. Goomba’s family was excited to adopt him Saturday morning, and he certainly looks a lot cuter than the brown mushroom characters from the Super Mario Bros. video game.
