🌊 Flood Insurance Just Got Easier for Delaware Residents

FEMA has launched a new online option that allows residents to purchase a National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policy completely online through FloodSmart.gov.

Previously, FEMA’s online tool allowed users to get flood insurance quotes. With this new update, eligible customers can now go a step further and complete the purchase of their policy online in just a few minutes.

🏠 Sussex County residents can now:

* Get an NFIP flood insurance quote online
* Review available coverage
* Purchase a policy directly online
* Still choose to work with a local or national insurance agent if preferred

Flooding can happen anywhere—not just in areas traditionally considered high-risk. FEMA has previously reported that about 40% of NFIP flood insurance claims occur outside high-hazard flood areas.

Being prepared before flooding occurs can make a major difference in recovery. Take a few minutes to learn about your flood risk and explore your coverage options.

Multiple rounds of coastal flooding is expected this week. A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for Tuesday evening's high tide as widespread minor tidal flooding is forecast for those areas. Additional tidal flooding is expected through at least Wednesday night. Currently, Wednesday evening's high tide is the one of most concern with widespread minor to low-end moderate tidal flooding, particularly in the back bays.
