It’s not often we get to have promotion boards, but when we do it’s usually a competitive process of solid and experienced individuals that make these promotions challenging. This round encompassed 4 officers with approximately combined 25 years at Scottsbluff County Detention Center! Today, we got the opportunity to have a pinning ceremony for Sgt. Barber who will be the new supervisor for our Transport Team. Sgt. Barber started with us August 2nd, 2021. She has served rolls of Corrections Officer, Booking Officer, Control Officer, Field Training Officer, Transport Officer, and Relief Supervisor before accepting her new role. Sgt. Barber was pinned by Sgt. Dedinsky, Sgt. Suhr, and Lt. Clause.
A tradition we have had in recent promotions is a senior ranked officer will voluntarily donate their sergeant stripes to be pinned on a new sergeant to figuratively share the years of knowledge, wisdom, and experience they have earned to help them build a strong foundation in their new role. Sgt. Suhr donated his stripes to Sgt. Barber today, Sgt. Suhr has served with us since June of 1999, that’s a lot to share! Please help congratulate Sgt. Barber and wish her well!
