Germantown Fire Explorers - Post 17

10/15/2026

Last week was a successful Fire Prevention Week. On Saturday 10/10, our Explorer Post attended the Germantown Wisconsin Fire Department Fire Safety Fair and was involved with a live vehicle extrication and car fire demo! Our Post also visited the Hartford Fire & Rescue Wisconsin Open House and had the opportunity to connect with the Hartford community as well. As always we thank the community for their support and opportunity to connect on important things like fire safety!

Tomorrow marks the start of Fire Prevention Week, October 4-10! All across the country, fire departments celebrate, notably by visiting schools and teaching about fire prevention by emphasizing firefighters are there to help, the importance of home smoke detectors, establishing a meeting place, and more.

Thank you to Richfield Fire Department for hosting your annual Open House/Fire Prevention Week Kick-Off. Our Explorers had the opportunity to help out with the Survive Alive trailer for children, demonstrating what it’s like to be in and escape from a smoke-filled environment, talk to the community and recruit new members, and even assisted in landing Flight For Life Transport System!

Please check us out at our other department open houses:

Jackson Fire Department Open House on Wednesday 10/7 6pm-8pm.

This morning, Post 17 welcomed the Wisconsin Department Of Safety And Professional Services to the Germantown Wisconsin Fire Department to receive the Youth Firefighter Training Grant of almost $23,000. In collaboration with the Richfield and Jackson Fire Department, our Post is committed to educating the future of the fire service by hosting fire and EMS trainings for our members.

This generous grant money will help us ensure high-quality training and safety via purchasing properly-fitting gear, training equipment, and materials to build training props. Afterward, our advisors, Explorer Lieutenant Zoey, and experienced Explorer Cole instructed our two newest members on throwing ladders. Thank you again to the DSPS!
