The Harvest Moon Fall Festival is almost here!

Join us Saturday, October 17, from noon to 6 p.m. at Bobby Lanier Farm Park for an afternoon of fall fun, including:

Early morning runners, walkers and cyclists: Be seen. Be safe.

As the days get shorter, many people are out exercising before sunrise when visibility is limited. Help drivers see you and give yourself more time to react by following these simple safety reminders:

🏃 Runners and walkers
• Use the Greenway or parks when possible to avoid vehicle traffic.
• When walking or running on the road, face oncoming traffic.
• Wear reflective gear or use LED clip-on lights. Bright or neon clothing alone may not be visible in low-light conditions.
• Consider leaving the headphones at home so you can hear approaching vehicles and other people.

🚲 Cyclists
• Ride with traffic and use bike lanes when available.
• Use a white headlight on the front and a flashing red light on the rear of your bicycle.

Whether you’re walking, running or riding, taking a few extra steps to increase your visibility can help everyone share the road safely.

A coat can make a big difference this winter.

The Germantown Athletic Club’s Annual Coat Drive is halfway through October, and donations are still needed to reach the goal of 150 new coats for local students.

While all sizes are appreciated, there is a particular need for:

• Adult Medium through Adult XL
• Adult 2XL and larger

New coats should be unused and can range from 6-month sizes through Adult 3XL. New gloves, scarves, winter hats and warm socks are also welcome.

📍 Drop off at the GAC Customer Service Desk through October 31.

Early voting starts today!

Early voting for the November 3 state, federal and municipal elections is available through Thursday, October 29.

Germantown's early voting location is New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 7786 Poplar Pike, but registered Shelby County voters can vote at any early voting location in the county.

That's one of the conveniences of voting early. On Election Day, November 3, you must vote at your assigned polling location.

The Germantown Animal Shelter has reached maximum capacity for dogs and needs the community's help.

Fostering or adopting a dog can help create space for other animals in need. Twelve dogs are currently looking for homes, each with their own personality and needs. Visit the shelter to meet the dogs and learn more about fostering and adoption.

Nine wolves are coming to Germantown. 🐺

Soon, nine bronze wolf sculptures will be placed throughout the City as part of Discover Germantown, an upcoming community scavenger hunt inviting residents and visitors to explore Germantown and discover its public art.

But before the wolves make their debut, you can get a behind-the-scenes look at how they were created. At the Discover Germantown Metal Art Kickoff on Friday, November 13, the Metal Museum’s Mobile Foundry will showcase the original molds, sculpting tools and other artifacts used to bring the wolves to life.

You can also watch live foundry pours and see master artisans cast molten metal on-site.

Hands-on registration has reached capacity, but a waitlist is available in case spots open up. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee participation. To join the waitlist, visit Germantown-TN.gov/Metal.

Stop by anytime between 2 and 7 p.m., grab some coffee from Monkeygrass Mayhem and enjoy an evening of art and get your first look at the wolves before the hunt begins.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Germantown Night Out! More than 20 neighborhoods came together last night to connect with neighbors, welcome our first responders and celebrate the safety and strength of our community.
