📋 Notary ID Myths — Busted! 🚫

Before your next notarization appointment, make sure you have the RIGHT identification. Here are the most common myths we hear — and the truth behind them!

❌ “My ID expired last week — it should still be fine”
✅ Unfortunately no — expired ID of any kind cannot be accepted, no matter how recently it expired. Please renew before your appointment!

❌ “A Social Security card counts as ID”
✅ False — it has no photo and is not acceptable for notarization.

❌ “My student or work ID is government-issued”
✅ False — only official government-issued photo ID qualifies.

❌ “I don’t need ID if the notary already knows me”
✅ False — Maryland notarial law requires proper identification regardless of personal familiarity.

✅ Acceptable forms of ID include:
🔹 Current Driver’s License
🔹 Current State Non-Driver ID
🔹 U.S. Passport or Passport Card
🔹 U.S. Military ID
🔹 Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)

🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day from Masud Akhtar Mobile Notary Services!

Today we honor the hardworking men and women who make this country great — including all the busy professionals who rarely get a moment to spare during the workday!

Speaking of busy professionals — did you know you can get documents notarized without ever leaving your home or office? That is exactly what Remote Online Notarization (RON) makes possible. And there are some common myths worth clearing up:

❌ "RON isn't legally valid"
✅ It absolutely is — Maryland fully authorizes RON and it carries the same legal weight as in-person notarization.

❌ "It's not secure"
✅ RON actually uses rigorous multi-factor identity verification — often more thorough than a standard in-person check.

❌ "It's too complicated"
✅ If you can make a video call, you can do RON! Simple, quick, and I guide you every step of the way.

Whether you are a busy professional, a senior at home, or an out-of-state signer — RON is a convenient, fully legal option for your notarization needs.

Wishing everyone a safe and relaxing Labor Day! 😊🇺🇸

📋 Trust Documents & Notarization — What You Need to Know

A trust is one of the most powerful estate planning tools available — allowing individuals and families to protect and distribute assets efficiently, often avoiding the lengthy and costly probate process entirely.

Common trust documents that require notarization:

🔹 Revocable Living Trust — Can be modified or revoked during the grantor's lifetime. Requires notarization to be legally valid in Maryland
🔹 Irrevocable Trust — Once established cannot be easily changed. Notarization is essential
🔹 Special Needs Trust — Protects assets for a beneficiary with disabilities without affecting government benefits
🔹 Successor Trustee Certification — Confirms the authority of a successor trustee to act on behalf of the trust

Why proper notarization matters:
Financial institutions, real estate title companies, and courts routinely require properly notarized trust documents before honoring any trust-related transaction. An improperly executed trust document can cause significant delays and legal complications for families.

As a mobile notary serving Montgomery & Frederick Counties, Maryland, I come directly to your home, office, or care facility to ensure your trust documents are executed accurately and professionally. RON also available.

📩 Estate planning attorneys and elder law professionals — I welcome the opportunity to support your clients. Let's connect.
