Gettysburg Borough Announces Community Information Sessions to Prepare Residents and Businesses for November Events
GETTYSBURG, PA — Gettysburg Borough will host two public community information sessions in early October to help residents, businesses, visitors, and others prepare for the activities and anticipated impacts associated with the nationally significant events taking place in Gettysburg during the week of November 16th – 20th, 2026 (Lincoln at Gettysburg: Shall Not Perish and the LIVE on Lincon Square – Concert for America).
The Borough-led sessions will focus primarily on the practical logistics of navigating and operating within Gettysburg during the week. Topics will include road closures and detours, parking, traffic circulation, emergency access, public safety, municipal services, accessibility, and other operational considerations.
“These sessions are intended to move the conversation from planning the events to helping the community prepare for them,” said Gettysburg Borough Manager Charles Gable. “We want to get down to the granular level and answer the questions residents and businesses are actually going to have that week: If I live in a particular neighborhood, how do I get home? How will I get to work? How do customers reach my business? What happens if someone needs to get to the hospital during an emergency? Our goal is to give people the information they need well in advance so they can plan accordingly.”
Representatives of the Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania and Main Street Gettysburg will provide brief overviews of the programming planned for the week. The majority of each session, however, will be dedicated to community questions and discussion with the public safety and municipal officials responsible for managing the operational impacts.
Borough Manager Charles Gable will moderate the sessions. The panel will include representatives from the Gettysburg Borough Police Department, Gettysburg Fire Department, Adams Regional EMS, Gettysburg Borough Public Works Department, and the Borough’s Parking Department.

Both sessions are open to the public. The same general information will be presented at each meeting, allowing community members to attend whichever session is most convenient.
Community Media will record both sessions for subsequent broadcast. The meetings will also be livestreamed on the Gettysburg Borough page, providing an additional opportunity for those unable to attend in person to receive the information.
The November events are expected to bring significant activity to Gettysburg and will require temporary changes to normal traffic, parking, transportation, and municipal operations. Borough officials encourage residents and business owners to attend one of the sessions, watch online, or view the recorded program so they understand those changes before the week begins.
“Our objective is straightforward,” Gable said. “We want everyone to know what to expect, understand how Gettysburg will operate during this very busy week, and have enough advance information to make a plan. The better informed our community is beforehand, the better we can manage the impacts together.”
