Throughout October, Gettysburg Police officers will wear a purple ribbon next to their badge in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The ribbon is a small sign of a larger commitment. Domestic violence can happen in any home, and it is never the fault of the person being harmed. If you or someone you know is in danger, call 911. You do not have to wait for it to get worse, and you do not have to handle it alone.

Help is free, confidential, and available around the clock:

Emergency: 911

YWCA Hanover Safe Home (Adams and York County domestic violence services): (717) 632-0007

National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233), or text START to 88788

Adams County Victim/Witness: (717) 337-9844

If you cannot speak safely, text or use a computer at a library, a friend’s house, or another place the other person does not control. Clear your browser history afterward if you need to.

Gettysburg Police stand with survivors. If you need help, we will meet you where you are.

Saturday, September 12 | 2–5 p.m.

• WellSpan Crisis Support: 717-851-5320 or 800-673-2496
