⚠️ WEATHER ALERT – HURRICANE ISAIAS ⚠️

Glascock County Sheriff’s Office

Residents of Glascock County and surrounding areas are urged to remain weather-aware as Hurricane Isaias continues to strengthen and is expected to bring significant weather impacts to Georgia.

Forecasts indicate the potential for heavy rainfall, strong winds, flash flooding, and isolated tornadoes beginning late tonight and continuing through early Sunday morning. The greatest impacts are expected on Saturday.

🌧️ POTENTIAL IMPACTS TO OUR AREA:

🔹 Strong Winds: Sustained periods of gusty winds, with gusts of 35–45 mph possible from Saturday into Sunday morning. These winds could cause downed trees, damaged power lines, and scattered power outages.

🔹 Heavy Rainfall & Flooding: Widespread heavy rainfall could result in flash flooding and rising water levels in rivers and creeks. Saturated ground may increase the risk of trees falling.

🔹 Tornado Threat: Isolated tornadoes may develop within rain bands associated with the storm.

📌 WHAT YOU SHOULD DO NOW:

* Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and other loose items.
* Avoid driving through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!
* Stay away from downed power lines and report them to the appropriate authorities.
* Keep cell phones charged and have flashlights, batteries, and emergency supplies available.
* Monitor trusted weather sources and follow official warnings and advisories.
* Have multiple ways to receive emergency weather alerts, especially overnight.

TIMING: Weather impacts may begin late tonight, with the greatest impacts expected Saturday and continuing into early Sunday morning.

Please remember that the exact track and intensity of the storm, along with the location of its rain bands, will determine the severity of impacts across our area. Conditions can change quickly, so do not rely solely on the storm’s forecast cone to determine your risk.

The Glascock County Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone to take precautions, remain alert, and prioritize the safety of your family.

Stay safe, Glascock County!
