This week, we gathered for our annual Installation Dinner and celebrated a meaningful leadership transition. With heartfelt gratitude, we thank our outgoing president, Mary Anne Paeth, for her dedication and hard work throughout the year. We are also delighted to welcome Becky Becnel as our new President and look forward to supporting her in this exciting new role!

One of the highlights of the year for Kiwanis is pitching in at the Gig Harbor Film Festival! Volunteers rolled out the red carpet for filmmakers at the Kiwanis Village over several days, complete with a lively “American Bandstand”-themed dinner party on Saturday night and a brunch on Sunday morning. Inside the festival, more Kiwanis volunteers kept the show running smoothly by guiding moviegoers to the right theaters. Lights, camera, community spirit!

Thanks Rosalyn for Guest Speaking at our meeting!🩵

As the Tourism Director for Visit GH, Rosalyn wears many hats. It was thrilling to learn about the myriad of ways VGH supports our community, including events such as the Award-Winning SUMMER SOUNDS Concert Series at Skansie Brothers Park.⚓️

We were thrilled to cook pancakes for the participants at Race for a Soldier this morning! A little rain couldn’t dampen the energy—a record turnout kept us happily mixing, flipping, and serving.

Race For A Soldier is presented by the Permission To Start Dreaming Foundation to raise awareness of the challenges faced by our military service members, veterans and first responders living with the effects of Post Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injuries.

At our meeting this week, the speaker was Melanie Magnenat from KidVantage. In her presentation, she outlined all the ways KidVantage helps children and families in need. This week alone they had 680 orders and many weeks it’s closer to 800-900. Kiwanis has been involved with this organization since it opened its hub in Bremerton.

Melanie also presented two awards to the club for our work on the High Five Diaper Drive in May.
