You can read the fascinating story on Ol' Commodore, our 1912 lead bull from Yellowstone. And then take home Buffalo Fluffalo for more reading ;) from our Museum Store!

Open Monday through Saturdays, 8 AM to 5 PM.

Sure seems like Ol' Commodore was a bit more gentle than Ol' Fluffalo...

Thank you Gillette News Record for the coverage. Thanks also to the Wyoming State Museum and the Wyoming Semiquincentennial Planning Task Force for funding this exhibit in our state.

If you just can’t get enough of democracy, the Campbell County Rockpile Museum is hosting a Smithsonian traveling exhibit, Voices and Votes: Democracy in America, which goes over the history

Let’s see if you guessed right from yesterday!

If you guessed an atlatl dart, you’re right!

Atlatl Dart
This reproduction atlat dart gives an idea of the power of the atlatl system. A cup shape at the end of the dart fits into the spur. While this reproduction is 6-feet long, some darts were 9-feet long. Large turkey feather fletching spins the dart in flight, keeping it stable.

Come see all of the interesting things at the Rockpile Museum. We’re open Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Bring the kiddos and learn all kinds of things!
