● senior citizen activities at the senior center;
● street and road improvements such as the reconstruction of 4-J Road or Warlow Drive;

"The Optional 1% Sales Tax funding has been instrumental in Climb’s free job training for single moms in Gillette and Campbell County. As families move out of poverty into stable, well-paying employment, our community becomes healthier and more vibrant. Benefits include increased economic mobility, improved mental health and well-being, reduction in government assistance, children who are better set up for success in school, and a robust local workforce. And as moms earn higher wages and continue to grow in their career, this breaks the cycle of poverty for the next generation. One Percent helps drive lasting change!"

From gilletteabuserefugefoundation Executive Director, Tatyana Walker:

"These numbers represent more than statistics—they represent children, parents, grandparents, and community members who were able to access safety, advocacy, and support when they needed it most. The Penny Tax helps make these essential services available to Campbell County residents and strengthens our community's ability to respond to domestic violence and sexual assault.

In 2025, funding made possible through the Penny Tax helped GARF serve 667 victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Of those served, 61% were parents with children, highlighting the importance of accessible services for families experiencing crisis.

The individuals who sought support ranged in age from just 9 months old to 80 years old. The youngest person GARF served was a 9-month-old child who came with his mother while she sought safety through shelter services. The oldest was an 80-year-old individual who sought protection and support through GARF's advocacy services.

Because Penny Power helps our community invest in the things that make Campbell County a safe, healthy, and thriving place to live.

It helps provide:

➡️ Safe communities and support for residents.

➡️ After-school programs and opportunities for our youth.

➡️ Access to affordable preventive care.

➡️ Mental health and substance abuse support.

➡️ Street repairs and infrastructure improvements.

➡️ Safe playgrounds for our children.

➡️ Parks and bike paths for families and residents to enjoy.

These investments are more than just line items in a budget—they contribute to the quality of life we experience every day in our community."

Thank you, Mikel, for your support and for all the amazing work you and your team at Council of Community Services provide for Campbell County!

"The tax has allowed our community to maintain roads, bridges, sewer systems, etc that my family and organization use every day. When those are not maintained, it makes doing business much more difficult. The tax has also helped to fund operating expenses at the Council of Community Services that allows us to employ local people to help our neighbors in need."

Why I Believe in Penny Power, by Jim Hastings:

"And this year, I will vote for the Penny again, not just for me, but so my kids and grandkids can have the same great community I’ve had for 42 years. I’ve enjoyed the benefits of Penny Power since my wife and I moved to Gillette in 1984. Now that I am retired and sort of have what I need personally, should I say we don’t need the Penny anymore? No! That would be ludicrous! Because I still want all the things my SMALL contribution to the Penny sales tax provides, AND I want those same things for my kids."
