Welcome Chief Brandon Sanchez!!!!

Today, the Gilroy Police Department proudly welcomed and officially swore in our 9th Chief of Police, Brandon Sanchez.

Chief Sanchez joins the Gilroy Police Department following an exceptional 28-year career with the San Jose Police Department, where he served in a variety of leadership and operational assignments dedicated to public safety, community engagement, and organizational excellence.

Surrounded by family, friends, community members, City leadership, and members of our law enforcement family, Chief Sanchez took the oath of office and formally began his service to the Gilroy community. His extensive experience, commitment to professional policing, and passion for building strong community partnerships make him well-positioned to lead the department into its next chapter.

We are excited to welcome Chief Sanchez to the Gilroy family and look forward to the vision and leadership he will bring to our organization and community.

Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Chief Brandon Sanchez as the 9th Chief of Police for the City of Gilroy!

🏃‍♂️🔥 We’re running for a great cause this Thursday! 🔥🏃‍♀️

Starting at 9 a.m., members of the Gilroy Police Department will head out to carry the torch as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, supporting the incredible athletes of the Special Olympics Northern California competing in this year’s games.

Our route will begin at the Police Department before heading north on Hanna Street, east on Sixth Street, and then north on Monterey Road until we reach Masten Avenue, where we will hand the torch off to the next group of runners.

It is an honor to once again be part of this annual event and support the athletes, families, and communities that make the Special Olympics so inspiring.

If you see us along the route, give us a wave and help cheer on the runners! 👋🔥
