⚠️ STORM CLEANUP SCAM ALERT ⚠️

The City of Gladstone has received reports of individuals offering storm cleanup services and telling residents that the City will pick up fallen trees and limbs left at the curb.

Please be aware that the City is NOT providing curbside storm debris pickup.

Residents are encouraged to use caution when hiring storm cleanup services. Before hiring a contractor:

• Verify they have a current Gladstone business license and proper insurance.
• Be cautious of unsolicited door-to-door offers.
• Avoid paying for services before the work is completed.
• Be wary of anyone claiming the City will collect debris left at the curb.

Gladstone residents can drop off storm debris for FREE at the City's Public Works facility through October 31.

Ever wonder why a fire engine shows up when you call 911 for a medical emergency?

At Gladstone Fire/EMS, all of our pumpers are ALS-capable, but the biggest reason engines respond to EMS calls is often manpower.

Critical calls can require several trained responders at the same time. Cardiac arrests, breathing emergencies, major trauma, severe bleeding, and unconscious patients may all need extra hands for CPR, lifting, moving patients, carrying equipment, managing the scene, and assisting with treatment.

The ambulance crew handles transport, while the engine crew helps make sure care on scene is safe, efficient, and well-supported.

So if you see a fire engine and an ambulance together on a medical call, that’s intentional.

Our goal is simple: send the right help, fast.

Ever wonder why you didn’t hear the outdoor warning sirens inside your house? You’re not alone.

Outdoor warning sirens are designed mainly to alert people who are outside. Inside a home, walls, insulation, closed windows, TVs, fans, air conditioning, heavy rain, and wind can all make sirens hard to hear.

That’s why it’s important to have more than one way to get weather warnings:

* Keep Wireless Emergency Alerts turned on
* Use a trusted weather app
* Consider a NOAA Weather Radio
* Follow local public safety and NWS updates

If you hear the sirens, head indoors and check a trusted source for more information.

Bottom line: outdoor sirens are one part of the warning system—not the whole system. Stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive alerts.
