Other news for the night, we would like to send out an apology. During my exhausted state making the post on Open House, I failed to include Matt Mackey with All Around Towing. All Around Towing was able to provide, deliver, and retrieve the vehicle in which we got to use for our extrication display this year. I do apologize for accidently skipping over you guys! Your help was greatly appreciated!

If your department is looking for some help getting a car to train with (or if you catch yourself in a bind and need a tow), I highly suggest working with All Around Towing. Matt made everything super easy for us and that alone meant the world while I was tackling the stress of organizing Open House. Thank you again for your help this year!

Thank you to everyone who made our open house today possible! With out everyone working together, we would never be able to put an event like this on every single year. Thank you to everyone in our community for coming up and spending the day with us. It truly means more than just a "thank you" can say to us. We are incredibly grateful for our wonderful community showing up and supporting us!

We want to thank Whitetails Firepitngrill for providing food today which was amazing, as usual! Thank you to OSF Life Flight and AMT for taking the time out of their busy schedules and allowing us to show the community some of who we work side by side with on real life emergencies. They are a huge part that play a vital role in our community's care when the need arises. Thank you to Pink Heals Peoria, IL Chapter for bringing not only the engine but the car as well that so many have seen and signed in their cancer fights. Thank you to Pastor Dan and the AWANA Club for providing fun activities for the kids year after year. And thank you to Kristi at Wild Style DC for coming each year and doing the face painting for the kids.

The last set of thank yous goes to our very own. Thank you to our board of trustees for allowing us to put this event on every year with no questions asked except, "What can we do to help?" A special thank you goes to Darcey who not only signs the checks for our vendors but also, spends an incredible amount of time keeping our station clean and whatever other task we (Chief) may throw at her when ever we need her. Your time and effort does not go unnoticed! And lastly, thank you to all of the Timber-Hollis Fire Department members who took the time out of your already busy schedules (deer stands and Scenic Drive really put a damper on our numbers during this event 😅) to help run this event. With out our members, there would be no department to bring the community in to see.

Today, between 11am and 12pm Timber-Hollis will be es**rting the BASH ride down Cameron Lane to Kingston Mines park. There will be a brief pause/block in the west bound lanes of Route 24 at Cameron Lane and then the east bound lanes of Route 24 at Jackson St to allow hundreds of motorcyclists to make it to their destination safely. Following the es**rt, there will be heavy motorcycle traffic in the area for the day. Please keep this in mind while traveling today. If you have a free day, check out BASH in the Kingston Mines park while these riders raise money to go towards local food insecurity! We thank you for you patience. Look twice, save a life!

Meet Brandon, one of our dedicated firefighters from Station 3 in Mapleton!

When he’s not responding to emergency calls or serving the residents of our community, you’ll often find him caring for his bees. 🐝

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, bringing unique skills and passions that make our department stronger. Thank you, Brandon, for your commitment to both our community and the environment!

Another productive evening at our new training tower! Tonight, our firefighters focused on communication skills in low visibility conditions, simulating the challenging environments encountered during real structure fires. Effective communication is critical when visibility is reduced by smoke, helping crews maintain accountability, coordinate operations, and ensure the safety of both firefighters and the people we serve.

Training like this allows our members to build confidence, sharpen their skills, and prepare for the situations they may face on emergency scenes. We are proud to have this training facility in our own backyard, providing valuable hands-on experience that helps keep our communities safe.
