I had hoped the post I made yesterday would be my last regarding this campaign but some people have an inability to have dignity in winning graciously and so now I need to correct the record.
We were very clear and honest during our campaign that we took NO money or endorsements from any political groups unlike our competitors (you can see the ex. photos attached). That is a fact. We only set up an account to take in money at the end of March because a few people had asked how to donate.
Most people probably aren't aware but you need to use an application during these campagins that tells you who registered voters are, how often they vote, etc. We tried out multiple apps very early on and settled on one that we felt had the most accurate info. Dozens of other campaigns across the state were using the same app as us, and post election we were told we walked more doors than any other campaign using the app. Ms. Ives, having seen the onslaught of unfair Democrat attacks and donations against us decided to donate and pay the company directly for our use of the app. While we are greatly appreciative of that, she was not involved in our messaging, agenda, GOTV efforts or any other aspect of our campaign so Ms McGee's post is inacurrate yet her post speaks volumes of the hate she has for people who don't think like her.
She accuses Ms. Ives directly and us indirectly as being hate filled book banners. This isn't a surprise as we heard it from their supporters quite often. It's a deflection from the radical policies they wish to incorporate into D89 schools. Tampons in the boys bathroom, biological boys in the girls bathrooms and sports, pronoun questions to sixth graders, inappropriate sexuality quizzes, adult peer pressured participation in day of silence, prism club, or any other sexualized themed group or agenda of the day. It is unfathomable that most of this is done behind the closed doors of the schools with little to no input from parents but it is happening and it is about to be accelerated.
Contrary to Ms McGee's accusations, we are NOT against books with gay characters or an afterschool Prism club that provides kids an outlet. What we are against is graphic sexual detail in books that every parent would not only be embarassed to read in public but mortified if they found their child reading it. We are also against slogans like "Be Gay or Perish" which hung in the halls of Glen Crest for months before being taken down with no punishment to the adults responsible, even though it made many kids extremely uncomfortable. It is abhorrent to us that the sexualization of our kids seems to be priority number 1 with some board members and teachers, but we also know many more who sit silently against it all afraid to speak up in fear of retribution. This is the current state of our district.
What they mean by D89ForAll is you adhering to their radical political agenda regardless of your own beliefs because if you think differently than they do you will be labeled a bigot or extremist. It's a technique intended to keep you silent. We think all kids should be respected for their individual beliefs and made to feel comfortable while at school but that doesn't mean trampling on the rights and privacy of others, especially minor children who are already feeling the tremendous pressure of social anxiety and puberty.
We will continue to speak up because their distortions and lies, their bullying doesn't deter us from telling the truth!

As you can imagine we were very disappointed in last nights results both in our own individual vote tally and the underwhelming voter turnout. The education system in this state has been politicized and in turn neglects the main responsibility of educating our kids and preparing them for the future. Nineteen percent turnout across DuPage, with so much at stake, is an indictment on us as informed citizens, failing to be engaged and partake in the process. I don't know the answer to voter apathy, but I do know that so many doors we knocked on had no idea about the school board election yet after speaking with them for a few minutes their engagement and interest level was noticeably different.
However, as I have said during this election, we must deal with the reality as it is, and not as we wish it to be. We are so appreciative for all those who helped us with the campaign, encouraged us along the way, and inundated us over the last 12 hours with thank you's, kind words, motivation, etc. We truly feel blessed to have met so many new friends who are as passionate about their kids education as we are, and we are forever grateful to all of you, especially our wives who made sacrifices at home so we could spend countless hours out knocking on doors!
One quick story I shared with a supporter last night. Our youngest was a micro preemie who spent 99 days in the NICU. While that was a harrowing experience, we learned that YOU as a parent must always be the strongest advocate for your child. Nurses, doctors, teachers, whatever the environment, have so much going on it's easy to get lost in the commotion. Yet you, as the parent, know each of your children's individual needs the best, and it is incumbent on you to advocate for those specific needs especially when they are being ignored. My kids are my responsibility and while I hoped to provide a voice for parents who wish to be involved in their children's education, I will never stop advocating for the best interests of my own kids!
I want to thank Scott M. Waldbusser & Juan Peralta for enduring this journey with me. They are great teammates and I was glad to get to know them and have them working alongside of me!
I would like to congratulate Mr. Pope, Mr. Koger, and Ms. McGee on their win. They acknowledged many of the issues we brought to the forefront and I trust they will fulfill their promises to rectify them, and guide our district forward so that ALL of our kids receive the education they deserve while ensuring that our kids are comfortable being themselves while away from us at school.

Election day is finally here! Juan, Scott, and I canvassed almost 4K doors between us with help from a few friends. We didn't just drop literature, we knocked on every door eager to speak to as many community members as we could. We had so many fantastic conversations, and met so many wonderful people that we feel this endeavor was worth it just for that. We wish we could have met all 15K voters but we simply ran out of time.
Tomorrow we would be honored to earn your vote, and know that you trust us to guide this district over the next four years.
Politics is a dirty game, and unfortunately what should be a non-partisan election became hyper-political. It should make you wonder why they are so hell-bent on ensuring three dad's with young kids in the district don't get elected, especially since we have already helped highlight a number of the most glaring issues that our opponents were forced to acknowledge and add to their platform. Just imagine what we could do if we were on the board!!!
I commit to you all that I will only serve one term. If you are expending the energy and time it takes to do this job right, one term should be enough. Also, when we win, we will keep our pages and website active so you can always reach out to us directly for anything that is on your mind. As we have said before, we will always respect and amplify the voices of parents and teachers in this district. It is the best way to ensure all kids succeed.
Please vote McGrane-Peralta-Waldbusser at any of the polling stations listed below. Polls open at 6a and close at 7p.

We have entered the final weekend prior to election day, and we encourage everyone to go vote early! Please head over to COD and be part of the change that will set a new trajectory for growth and success in D89!
As board members we will address the data as it is, not as we wish it to be, and we will not sugarcoat the truth to the public. It is incumbent that parents, school board members, and administration work together to have a successful district and we must all play our part to see our kids achieve the success they are all capable of!
Wirepoints did a great summary of all the school districts around IL regarding proficiency scores, taxes, enrollment, home values, etc. The sad truth is that many high achieving districts are on the decline, and as kids fall behind in D89 they continue that decline in D87 at Glenbard South. It is evident on the IL Report Card and SAT scores. While scores have declined, property taxes have gone up exponentially and property values have remained stagnant. That is a recipe for disaster
Yet partisan political organizations and their endorsed candidates want you to think everything is great, and are doing everything in their power to protect the status quo. "A few areas to improve on" is how they categorize it but is that really true? One of the metrics in the attached profile of D89 is that 100% of teachers are rated excellent or proficient and I believe that to be true, so how can a majority of kids not be proficient? Well the blame lies with an administration that has ignored teacher concerns and a board that placated the administration, unwilling to assume the oversight role they are tasked with.
We can do better, and with your support we will do better for all the kids of the district. Let's reject the status quo and demand more for the sake of our kids and their future, VOTE MCGRANE, PERALTA, WALDBUSSER

As usual Scott Waldbusser for D89 School Board succinctly summarizes why we’re running! Ensuring our kids receive a rigorous education built around core academic principles is our main focus! We knew partisan political groups would line up against us stopping at nothing to protect the status quo slate but when you vote us in next week educational excellence will rule the day in D89!
Early voting is open, and Election Day is April 4th. Vote Waldbusser - McGrane - Peralta (1 - 4 - 5) for D89!
PSA: When I wake up on April 5th I’ll either be part of a new school board or I won’t, but what I’m certain of will be knowing that Kevin McGrane For D89 School Board, Juan Peralta for D89 School Board and I ran this election the right way and for the right reasons. We’ve worked to build connections regardless of political beliefs, shine a light on the problems this administration has tried to sweep under the rug, and ask that such basics as Accountability, Transparency & Excellence be brought back to the forefront.
School board elections should be apolitical and hyper-local, away from national level agendas; unfortunately, we’re facing the exact opposite. Below is just a small sample of the hypocrisy that is ridiculous enough to fit in the script of Anchorman 17 or Zoolander 34, but has become standard for IL: “Vote for us to remove politics from the classroom!” ((Paid for by a political party))
To the teachers and parents of D89 - nothing can be fixed overnight, but win or lose, we hope we’ve begun the process of getting your voice back and letting you know that you needn’t be afraid of bullies. And to the copywriter of the mailer below, I’m sure you could have one of your parents hop on to Netscape Navigator and find you a free course on self-awareness.
