October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

California Highway Patrol stands with those affected by breast cancer, including survivors, those currently fighting, caregivers, families, and loved ones.

Throughout the month, you may notice CHP officers wearing a breast cancer awareness pin on their uniforms; a small symbol of support for those affected by this disease.

Breast cancer can impact anyone. Early detection can make a difference, so take the time to know your risk, schedule recommended screenings, and encourage the people you love to do the same.

Together, we can raise awareness, show support, and remind those facing breast cancer that they are never alone.

Southern California is experiencing heavy rain which will continue over the next few days. ☔️🌧️

The California Highway Patrol wants to remind drivers to remain especially alert during this period of inclement weather. Here are a few safety tips for driving during these rainy conditions:

✅ Slow down because wet roadways require longer stopping distances.

✅ Turn on your vehicle’s headlights and windshield wipers to increase roadway visibility.

✅ Increase your following distance to give yourself more time to stop for hazards and other vehicles.

✅ Avoid flooded portions of roadways.

Rowland Heights - On Monday, October 19, 2026, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Southern Division Investigative Services Unit (ISU) Cargo Theft Interdiction Program (CTIP) and Organized Retail Crime Task Force (ORCTF) teams served a residential search warrant following the arrest of a suspect.

A weeks-long investigation revealed that the suspect was a delivery employee who would steal high-end retail products then resell the stolen items for profit.

The search warrant led to the recovery of an estimated $100,000 worth of stolen items from victims including lululemon, Coach, Alto, Gap, Calvin Klein, Old Navy, TJX, and Banana Republic manufacturers.

This Maximum Enforcement Period is about more than enforcement. It’s about preventing the next tragedy.

From 6:00 p.m. October 2 through 5:59 a.m. October 3, CHP personnel of all ranks and assignments will be working throughout California, with a particular focus on identifying and removing impaired drivers from the road.

In 2017, CHP Officer Mark Latulippe’s family experienced a devastating loss caused by an impaired driver. Their story is told in the Emmy Award-winning CHP documentary Falling — a powerful reminder of why this work matters and what can happen when someone chooses to drive impaired.

This MEP isn’t about how many citations are written or arrests are made. It’s about preventing crashes, saving lives, and making sure more families make it home safely.

Drive sober. Arrive alive.

West Valley deployed a sobriety/ driver license check points this weekend.

One of the many functions and strategies used to proactively protect our communities is the deployment of sobriety/license check points. This allows us to maintain high visibility in our communities while also providing for open dialogue, education, and engagement. Hundreds of drivers are screened for the purpose of removing dangerous drivers who may be driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or a combination of the two.
