This past week, Deputy Rice and K9 Danken attended the Heart of America Police Dog Association’s annual K9 certification. K9 teams from across Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri spent the week completing certification in both patrol and narcotics detection.

Deputy Rice and K9 Danken successfully completed their annual certification in both Patrol Dog and Narcotics Detection.

Following certification, the team participated in the HAPDA Detector Dog Trophy Run, competing against nearly 30 K9 teams. Deputy Rice and K9 Danken earned 1st Place overall in the Detector Dog competition.

K9 Danken continues to impress with his drive and ability to work. A lot of training goes into preparing for certification each year, and bringing home 1st place in the Detector Dog Trophy Run was a great way to cap off a successful week.

Now it’s back to work for Danken, although he may have earned a few days off.
