Meco Volunteer Fire Company

01/05/2026 at 11:02 PM: Meco Fire was dispatched to South Shore Road (at the North End of Pecks Lake), in the Town of Bleecker, for a report of a flashing light on the lake. At the time, the caller, who was across the lake on North Shore Road, was concerned that someone may be in need in emergency assistance.

Caroga Lake Fire, Mayfield Fire, Broadalbin Fire and Lake Valley EMS were also dispatched as automatic mutual aid due to the possibility of an emergency on a body of water.

Meco Fire and Caroga Lake Fire initially responded to the scene and observed what appeared to be a blinking orange beacon in the area that was likely placed out to mark the snowmobile trail.

Out of an abundance of caution, Mayfield Fire was requested to respond to the scene with their DRONE to fly to the remote area and confirm no emergency was present.

12/23/2025 - Meco VFC responded to a two-car MVA at the intersection of State Highway 309 and West State Street Ext, in the Town of Johnstown.

Due to to the crash, West State Street Ext was closed to traffic for a short duration of time.
