🐯💙 Introducing Our 5th Grade Tigers of the Week! 🧡🐯

Our 5th Grade Leadership Team is already making a difference! After meeting last week, our student leaders decided they wanted to recognize students from each class who are important members of our 5th grade team and demonstrate what it means to live out The Tiger Way! 🐯

Together, they created our new 5th Grade Tigers of the Week recognition! Our leadership team members interviewed the selected students, learned a little more about their interests, and took their photos so we could celebrate their accomplishments and share their positive contributions with our school community. We are so proud of our student leaders for taking the initiative to recognize others and spread positivity! 🧡💙

Meet This Week’s Tigers of the Week!

Tyler Rickli
Tyler’s favorite color is red, and his favorite animal is a deer! Tyler is being recognized this week for being a good listener and following directions in the classroom. Way to show responsibility and be a great example for others, Tyler!

Finn Keeley
Finn’s favorite color is red, and his favorite sport is football! Finn is being recognized for being kind to those around him and showing The Tiger Way in the hallways. Thank you for showing respect and kindness, Finn!

Leo Calderon
Leo’s favorite color is red, and his favorite animal is a monkey! Leo is being recognized for being a quiet, focused student who completes his work and treats everyone around him with kindness. Keep up the great work, Leo!

Please join us in congratulating Tyler, Finn, and Leo! We are proud to recognize these students for the positive choices they make each day and the ways they help make our 5th grade team a great place to learn and grow.

🤼 Guest Speaker Spotlight: Art of Coaching 🐅

Our Art of Coaching class had a special guest this week! Coach R.J. Boudro, head men's wrestling coach at Grand Valley State University, joined us by video call to talk coaching, culture, and leadership.

Before taking over at GVSU, Coach Boudro spent 11 years as head coach at Lowell High School. His teams won 11 consecutive MHSAA Division 2 team state championships and finished with a 223-34 dual meet record. He also wrestled at Michigan State, earning a Big Ten placement and an NCAA Championships appearance.

Our students asked great questions and walked away with plenty to think about:

✅ Building a program around core values, not a long list of rules
✅ Running efficient practices with a clear plan
✅ Recruiting, communication, and organization
✅ Why effort and the process matter more than the outcome

Art of Coaching is giving our students a real look at what it takes to lead. Each week, they study coaching fundamentals, hear from guest speakers, and spend time in our officiating curriculum learning the game from the other side of the whistle.

Thank you, Coach Boudro, for investing your time in our students. We appreciate you!

Last week marked the end of the regular season for our fall sports and High School Student Council decided to mark the end and enjoy the weather with a bonfire - One Last Huddle! Students had a great time playing outside, making s'mores, and enjoying each others company. Thank you to Jeff Gilbert, Justin Winthrow, Megan Ivester, and Marissa and Scott Sherrod for putting in the extra time and resources for setting this up and making it great!

On Friday, a group of juniors and seniors interested in nursing took the opportunity to see and experience the nursing program at the University of Olivet for a college visit. Not only did they get to see what college might be like for them in the near future, they also got hands on experience in the sim-lab with current nursing students and got an automatic scholarship for touring campus early!

4th grade loves creating art work that matches their descriptive writing. Practicing adding details is important not only for painting but also in writing. Gobles students are mastering both.

Texas may be big, but those hometown Tiger roots run deep!

When you come home from Texas, a tour of the new school and a stop at the Tiger Den Café belong on the itinerary! We loved welcoming Gobles alumna Christian Stiles-Bingaman and her daughter back to Gobles Public Schools.

One of the best parts of being a Tiger is welcoming our alumni home—hearing their stories, catching up on their adventures, and sharing what’s new in the place where it all began. Christian, thank you for making time for us during your visit! 🧡

Coming from Texas isn’t required. Coming thirsty is encouraged.

Fourth graders in Ms Pearson’s class have been hard at work mapping out the wonders of the Great Lakes State! As part of their social studies unit, students researched Michigan facts onto a poster that brings our state’s history to life.

Here is what they explored and showcased:

🗺️ GEOGRAPHY: Mapping the Upper and Lower Peninsulas, the Great Lakes, and key natural resources.

🏛️ GOVERNMENT: Learning about state leadership in Lansing, and our official state symbols.

📜 HISTORY: Diving into early Native American history, the fur trade, and Michigan becoming the 26th state in 1837.
We are proud of the research, teamwork, and care our students put into their posters to share their knowledge about Michigan.
