Tonight, the Godfrey Fire Protection Board of Trustees held their monthly meeting with a large number of people in attendance. You see, this was a very special meeting as it was Chief Eric Cranmer last meeting as Fire Chief. He was honored this evening for his 38 years of service to the Godfrey Fire Department and the citizens of our community. Although he is retiring, a small piece of him remains with all the Firefighters he has served with, lead, instructed, mentored, and cared for over his 38 years. In one way or another, he has helped shape each Firefighter on this department and we wish him the very best in his retirement! Congratulations Chief Cranmer!
There were also 3 promotions and an appointment of the new Fire Chief for Godfrey Fire Department.
Congratulations to Firefighter Joel Naylor on his promotion to Lieutenant!
Congratulations to Lt. Jake Elder on his promotion to Captain!
Congratulations to Captain Brian Estes on his promotion to Assistant Chief!

The person appointed to be our next Fire Chief is Assistant Chief Ben Hamberg! Congratulations to Ben and we look forward to having you as our new Chief!

This morning the Chief and Shift 3 spent some time together setting up some stabilization and lifting scenarios using our Res-Q-Jacks and new Bailey's Premier Sling from Bailey's Towing Accessories Inc. We also tested a custom mini bridle from Complete Rescue Solutions also made by Bailey's while performing a Darlington Roĺl. Thanks to the Bowers Towing team for the vehicle to use this week.

Never forget. 25 years later and it’s still fresh in our memories and hearts…..every day.

Thanks to everyone that stopped by. The Freers and Tony’s Ranch House dropped us off a wonderful lunch to enjoy. Numerous other residents and neighbors stopped by with desserts and 9/11 memorial items. The community is always thinking of us and we thank you for that. We are here for you 24/7/365. 👨🏻‍🚒 🇺🇸

For the last three days, your Godfrey Firefighters have been hosting a class called Building Comprehension For The Fire Service. Jeff Lattz taught new tactics and strategies for managing emergencies in different type’s of building construction. We were joined by numerous firefighters from 8 other local fire departments. We would like to thank Wood River, Bethalto, Maryville, QEM, Edwardsville, Bunker Hill, Carlinville and Brighton fire departments for sending personnel to attend this class.
And a big thank you to The Captain Jake Ringering Memorial. They provided the funding to get this class in Godfrey for multiple days so as many firefighters could attend as possible. Without them, this wouldn’t have been possible. Their mission to help train first responders is immeasurable.
