TRAFFIC ALERT (Tue 10/13/26): The Tirrell Hill Rd bridge project begins today, with a road closure between Black Brook Road and Sunbeam Place. The detour route is available using Black Brook Rd, East Dunbarton Rd, and Montelona Rd. The work is expected to last several weeks with completion in November.

As the leaves and the weather turn, the Cemetery Trustees and DPW Cemetery Division would like to share that we have begun the annual fall cleanup of the three Goffstown cemeteries.

As part of this activity, we would like to remind visitors and families of the local cemetery rules. Any non-permitted items which are not collected by Veterans Day will be removed, including dead flowers, crosses, shepherd hooks, stepping stones, solar lanterns, pinwheels, chimes, glass or breakable vases, personal items, etc.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance to keep our cemeteries maintainable and beautiful for all.

The Transfer Station will be closed on Saturday, October 10th in observance of Columbus Day. The DPW administration offices will be closed Monday, October 12th. Curbside collection remains on schedule this week and next. Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!

The DPW is now hiring! The department has 2 full-time positions available for either Laborers or Truck Drivers (CDL - B). Pay scales begin at $19.95 for Laborers and $24.02 for CDL-B, with an additional $2.50/hr incentive for current CDL-A license-holders.

NIGHTTIME PAVING MARKINGS 9/24/26 - Our pavement marking contractor had an opening this evening, so they will be back in town to complete yellow and white pavement markings on the following streets which were recently paved:

Henry Bridge Rd
Tibbetts Hill Rd
Center St at Tibbetts
Paige Hill Rd
East Dunbarton Rd
Rochambeau St

The Montelona culvert replacement project on Hardy Brook met a major milestone last week with installation of the precast box culvert pieces and simulated streambed bottom. Big thanks to contractor John E. Neville Excavating and precast supplier Michie Concrete!

As a reminder, this project is 90% federally-funded from a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Preparedness Grant. The large culvert just upstream on East Dunbarton Road washed out the day after Christmas in 2021 during heavy rains. It's safe to say this structure won't be going anywhere.

Hey Goffstown, it's a new week with a new bridge update! Not the fun kind though.

Unfortunately, the NHDOT annual inspection of the Tirrell Hill Rd bridge didn't go so well yesterday and as a precaution they recommended we close the eastern lane of the bridge until repairs can be made.

We were already working on plans for this red-listed bridge to be our next project in 2027, but it looks like the timeline may be bumped up a bit.

We hope to have more details about the scope of work and schedule very soon. In the meantime, we have the bridge down to single lane width with STOP signs on both sides to promote alternating one-way traffic. There are no weight restrictions at this time.
