The CHP Gold Run Area is looking for help with any information regarding a collision on Interstate 80 eastbound east of SR-174 on Saturday, August 29 at 1:10 pm involving a blue motorcycle and an unknown vehicle. The collision occurred on the uphill grade of I-80 east of the train trestle. Preliminary evidence suggests the motorcycle may have collided with the back of a big rig trailer. If you have any information about this collision, please contact the CHP Gold Run Area at (530) 388-9100.

Yesterday, CHP Gold Run teamed up with CHP Air Operations and CHP Valley Division Commercial units for an I-80 Joint Commercial Enforcement Campaign. In response to recent semi-truck brake fires, we targeted trucks skipping the mandatory brake check and other violations such as speeding which contribute to brake fires.
All semis must stop at the brake check area between Nyack and Blue Canyon on 80 westbound. Check to ensure your brakes cool before continuing down the mountain. Please do not park in this area for an extended period.
If you decide to skip the mandatory brake check area, our eye in the sky will be watching.
